Hook In

Anne Marek and Susan Hoekstra welcomed lots of ladies to the first “Hook In” at Mrs. Stitches on October 13th. On display were lots of rug patterns, small beginner kits, frames, wool cutters, wool fabric, scissors, and other products necessary for successful rug hooking skills. Patches - A Garden Sampler Workshop

This needlepoint piece was taught by Anne Marek and Susan Hoekstra this winter as a three-part, three-hour workshop. Patches was designed by Lois Caron of The Caron Collection, Ltd. It is a commercial chart pack available for purchase. It can be stitched on various mesh canvas and linen using The Caron Collection threads—Watercolors, Waterlillies, Impressions and Wildflowers.

Eighteen ladies  who signed up to take the class learned different aspects of counted needlework. Two stitched the sampler on 18 mesh canvas in Waterlillies and Gloriana silk flosses. Three ladies opted for 28, 29 and 32 count linen with variegated silk flosses. The remaining pieces were stitched on 13 mesh canvas in Watercolors, Impressions, and Silk and Ivory threads.

A delightful time was had by all participants as illustrated by the pictures below. The group shot was taken at the last session, and you can see how everyone had almost finished the project.
